CHOICES' 28th Annual Crusade Against Domestic Violence Underway

As part of our 30th Anniversary Celebration, CHOICES once again invites faith-based organizations to help interrupt the cycle of domestic violence within our community by participating in CHOICES' 28th Annual Crusade Against Family Violence.

For CHOICES, the number "30" signifies many things. In the U.S., 30% of Americans say they know a woman who has been physically abused by her husband or boyfriend in the past year. Victims of domestic violence count for approximately 30% of all women seeking emergency medical care. Over 30% of American women report being sexually or physically abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives. And in a survey of 7,000 women, over 30% said domestic violence had a negative impact on their job performance.

In this, our 30th year as the primary service provider to central Ohio families experiencing domestic violence, CHOICES continues to provide counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, and community and legal support to families in our community who are living in violent situations. But we cannot do this work alone. There are endless ways that faith-based organizations can help CHOICES interrupt the cycle of domestic violence in central Ohio, including:

  • Hosting a special "Circle of 30" gathering at your place of worship to raise awareness about domestic violence

  • Collecting a special offering for CHOICES during a worship service

  • Including our 28th Annual Crusade Against Family Violence insert in one of your bulletins

  • Posting family violence information resources in public and private locations for victims seeking assistance

  • Collecting CHOICES Wish List items or used cell phones to help domestic violence survivors

  • Invite a CHOICES representative to speak to your congregation, women's group, or any group who would benefit from domestic violence education
